Delish.

Party. My place. December 2012. All Month.

Why not go down in style? I’m planning it already. Doomsday costumes, beverages (Avery Brewing has some great ideas), 2012 movie, and so much more.

We’re gonna make sure we tip on our own wrong axes before the world does. Cheers.

May the Force be with you.

May the Force be with you.

Song of the week

Reasons why I like Eric Church’s new song, “Smoke a Little Smoke”:
1. It’s a good drinking/smoking cigar song
2. I like the attitude
3. Sometimes you wonder if it’s really worth getting up to go get someone back. Sometimes it’s not. Just drink more.
4. I may have done this. With the blues, wine, and forgetting. And it’s great.

“I’m gonna sit right here
Stay away from there
I’m gonna make pretend
I just don’t care
And I could get up
Go get her back
Or maybe I’ll just let her go
Drink a little drink, smoke a little smoke

Kick back, gives the blues a spin
Break out the wine, forget again
Dig down deep, find my stash
Light it up, take me back

Kick back, gives the blues a spin
Break out the wine, forget again
Dig down deep, find my stash
Light it up, memory crash

Oh no, I don’t know
Baby, it might take, all night
Then I’ll maybe break out that old rock and roll
Drink a little drink, smoke a little smoke”

I may be trying to memorize this dance. Just in hopes that I have cartoon blue birds drop in to say hello. And a marching band, of course.

Damn the Apron.

So I’ll admit it. I’ve been a bit lazy this past month. By lazy, I mean I haven’t been cooking. For those that know me, know that cooking at the end of the day really eases me to think about the rest of the things I have to do. That, and having Blues or Bonnie Raitt crooning in the background. Seeing as though I didn’t have anything to do this month, I didn’t feel the need to cook? The logic is messed up. So I was sick of it.

Now, superfluous background information: I have been searching for The Apron. I grill, I cook, but I didn’t want the stupid traditional grilling and cooking apron. I wanted one that was fun, that inspired cooking. And I found it. With a beautiful blue oriental print, I found it. So then the disastrous fun began. (Not really disastrous.) I didn’t need to splurge. But I did. I figured it was in the name of self preservation. New measuring cups, rubber scrapers, an electric mixer, bread pans, etc. I was this close to buying a Kitchenaid. But I resisted.

My cooking plan:
beef skewers with blue cheese sauce and corn
pulled pork with root beer sauce (WTF??)
Chicken Chili Rellenos
Pumpkin Bread
Cranberry and Orange biscuits with glaze
Red Waldorf Cake
Coffee Cake
Zucchini Bread
Peach Pie.

Already had the beef skewers, and put the pulled pork in the slow cooker. Found out: chili sauce and rootbeer simmering and reduced is actually a good combo. Very intriguing. Zucchini Bread today, pumpkin bread tomorrow

Rellenos go in tomorrow. Coffee Cake and Red Waldorf Cake on Thursday. Peach pie tonight. Who knows about the cranberry and orange glaze biscuits.

I need more ideas.

And the gym. And fellow eaters. With that, I’m off to get both.

Shit.

Shit.

Movie Review: Notorious.  Honestly, just skip it.  Sure, it’s kind of cool to learn a bit to see with Biggie Smalls came from.  Disappointed in Angela Bassett to go with this one, but she did her best.  They did well with the hype, but I just didn’t feel much of the meat.  Instead, just turn on your favorite songs, open the Wikipedia article, have some movie segment of a player/rapper/drug dealer and it’s just the same as watching the movie.  Maybe a bit more.
